The free edition on your own machines asks to be updated once a year; updating is free, needs no account and takes one command. The hosted service is kept up to date for you.

When it asks
Free editionEvery release carries the day it was built and asks to be updated a year later. For the first nine months it says nothing.
From month nine, the Needs a look list reminds you and names the date to update by, and serve or run prints the same reminder when it starts. It never calls us to check: the date is part of the program.

If the date passes
Free editionYour agents keep working: the gateway keeps passing their calls to the provider, keeps holding their limits and keeps recording every call. Nothing is deleted.
What pauses is the dashboard: its pages, these docs inside the app and the downloads step aside for one page with the update command. Update, and they come back with all of your history.
Update, free
Free editionRun the installer again, then stop AxiGate and start it the way you did before. Only the program is replaced; your records stay where they are.
